Weighted Step-up

Purpose of this exercise: To Develop THE QUADRICEPS, HAMSTRINGS, AND GLUTEUS MAXIMUS

This exercise will improve your vertical leap and is a good overall workout for the lower body and glutes.


Technique
1.

Begin by standing on the floor with one foot placed firmly on a bench in front of you. The bench height should be so that your thigh is parallel to the floor. For this exercise you may use a barbell behind your neck, dumbbell in your hands or just your bodyweight.

2. Step up with one leg onto the bench or platform and bring the trailing leg up to a standing position.
3. Step down with the same leg going down first; step slowly and in control.
4. Repeat this sequence alternating legs that you lead with.
