Step Overs

Purpose of this exercise: TO WARM UP THE INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL ROTATORS AND HIP JOINTS

In many different sports, the athlete must be able to move laterally quickly and smoothly. This exercise warms up those muscles and joints involved in lateral movement reducing the chance of injury.

Technique
1. Step shoulder width apart.
2. With arms straight out to the side, step one foot behind the other foot, so that your legs are crossed.
3. Swing the front foot in a high arch over the knee of the back leg. You should be standing shoulder-width apart.
4. Swing the other foot in a high arch over the knee of the first leg. Your legs should be crossed again.
5. Repeat moving sideways down the field. Keep your chest forward, in-line with the direction you are moving.

CAUTIONS!!
• Keep your chest in line with the direction you are moving.
• Keep your back straight, do not bend at the waist.
