Decline Bench Press

Purpose of this exercise: TO STRENGTHEN THE LOWER PECTORALIS MAJOR, DELTOID, TRICEPS

Body builders use the decline bench press to develop the lower part of the pecs. A decline bench can be made by placing blocks under one end of a flat bench.


Technique
1. Lie on a decline bench on your back with your head at the bottom end of the bench.
2. Grab the weight at shoulder width, bring it to your chest. This is the starting position.
3. Press the bar upward while exhaling until elbows are fully extended. This can also be completed with dumbbells.

CAUTIONS!!
• Make sure your bench is steady during this exercise.
• If you fail to do this exercise the weight may fall on your face or neck.
• Never exercise without a competent spotter.
