Leg Extensions

Purpose of this exercise: TO DEFINE AND BUILD THE QUADRICEPS

Leg extensions are good supplement exercises for squats and leg presses. Doing knee extensions during the last 20 degrees of motion builds up the muscle that draws the kneecap towards the center of the joint.

Technique
1. Sit on the machine with the back of the calf resting on the edge of the seat.
2. Adjust the leg pad so it rests on the lower leg just above the ankle.
3. Lift the weight by smoothly extending the lower leg leg until full leg extension.
4. Lower the weight slowly to the starting position.

CAUTIONS!!
Weighted boots are not recommended because they may strain the ligaments of the knee.
This exercise may cause kneecap pain, especially through the full range of motion. If you experience kneecap pain, check with your doctor before continuing with this exercise.
